The Philippine Stock Exchange, Inc. (PSE) Chairman Jose T. Pardo and Philex Mining Corporation (PX) Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan led the bell ringing ceremony to mark the listing of PX stock rights offer (SRO) shares on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.
The Php 2.65 billion raised from the SRO will be used by the company to pay for mine development, construction of mill plant and support facilities and storage tailings facility for its Silangan project located in Surigao del Norte.
In his welcome remarks, PSE Chief Operating Officer Atty. Roel A. Refran cited the regulatory initiatives of the Exchange for the mining sector. In particular, he mentioned the 2020 Philippine Mineral Reporting Code (PMRC) that was launched last year, which the PSE worked on together with the other members of the PMRC Committee. “Among others, we reinforced the gatekeeping roles and responsibilities of accredited competent persons of issuers towards investor protection and full transparency, consistent with international standards and best practices.”
